, Put he has cracked the egg in the middle he has not yet broken through the menbrain bit (only the shell) What do i do? should i help him break through or leave him to it??
I know you should not help only if the duck gets stuck.
Its my first time hatching duck eggs.

I would not help. Just keep a close eye, the membrane is probably open too you just can't see it. If you open the bator you risk shrink wrapping the duckling, So be patient it can take up to 36 hrs for them to complete the hatch.

HELP hes still not gone through the mainbrain yet only the shell

I don't see how it could go through the shell without breaking the membrane, I don't hatch in a bator so maybe they do, Let me see if I can find you some help... I sent a PM to someone experienced, lets hop she is online.

Okay sent another PM for back up. Now you don't know he isn't strong enough, it takes alot for them to get through so to be able to crack the egg takes alot, They work awhile then rest so don't assume he can't get out, if you interfer you could make it alot worse assuming he is in trouble in the first place

ducks can take 36 hours to fully hatch from when they first internally pip. Most of the time you dont notice the tear in the membrane as they first externally pip. You have a long while before that duckling will hatching out fully, so dont panic early and become alarmed. Often first time hatchers will think they need to help when all they need to is to walk away and leave the eggs alone. If you place your ear near the bator window do you hear anything?

dont keep an eye on the egg, walk away, get busy, leave the house, but dont there watching or you will always think something is wrong
