Hatching in egg carton

I thought I read somewhere that if you hatch in a egg carton, chicken eggs go point end down is this correct, and does the same hold true for duck eggs.

On a sad note I thought I had a an egg with nothing in it so I cracked it open wouldnt you know it there was a live duck in there I did take a picture if anyone wants to see it.

I didnt think I would make it this far to be asking this question as this is my first attempt.

They go small end down in the egg cartons, just like in the turner

There was no turner I turned them by hand 3 times a day.
