Hatching Khaki Campbells

oh gosh what does it mean to be sticky? yes i was able to get the temp up and the humidity has been at 60% since yesterday. if i were to create the safe hole would i have to wrap a paper towel around him or anything? i can hear him peeping from outside the incubator and the egg is moving every now and then lol is that all normal?

NO, you don't have to wrap him up, that's why I said small hole. Very small, just enough for him to ONE aim for and TWO to breath. Once he sees the light coming from the hole, hell aim right up to it..

Sticky. This is got to be the worst thing. There's four factors that can cause it, One to low of temp, Two to high of humidity, three a dirty incubator and four poor air circulation. BUT most likely cause of sticky baby is high humidity. Is like a BLOB of gooey stuff that covers them complete and it basically suffocates them. There's NOT a whole lot you can do, A friend and I have been experimenting with sticky eggs trying to come up with a way to help the babies escape safely

well how would i know if hes sticky or not? the others werent as far as i can tell, and this one seems to be moving an awful lot. how long can he survive off of the air in that egg? i dont know if ill be able to do this again its a lot more stressful than i thought it was going to be lol!!

If you candle the smaller end, if there's any spacing he could be sticky. Right now when candling the entire bottom or smaller end of the shell should be completely black.

there is a little bit ofspacing but its really hard to see it. its like dark orange almost. i can still hear and see him scratching and peeping. i had another egg but it died, i opened up the egg to see what couldve caused it and his foot was in his yolk sac and it had clearly ruptured and i guess that resulted in his death :(

Aweee isn't that aweful. I had a couple of them do that. I even had one get his cord twisted around his leg and cut off the circulation.

well he's gotten through to the small hole that i made but he is just kinda sticking his bill through the hole and from what i can see the membrane with the veins is mostly thin veins and stuff but it looks a little dry but hes definitely moving freely, there isnt anything stuck to him. his eye is still covered by the membrane like hes still underneath it but thats it the rest of him is out of it and there isnt anything stuck to him, hes just sitting there now though and its like he doesnt realize that he needs to get himself out of the shell but he certainly seems antsy! all i can hear are loud peeps and he moves so much when i pick him up that i can feel him through the egg! how long should i give him to start getting out of the egg and is there anything i might need to do in order to help him hatch? this is the last baby thats ready to hatch so i hope he makes it, after that its just his little brothers and sisters that are due in a couple weeks.

Well you really got to leave him alone, he'll sit there like that for a while, could take anywheres from 24 to 48 hours even longer, as long as he can breath he'll be ok. Make sure that temp is up, we don't want him to get chilled. Remember keep the humidity down but spray him once a day. This is the hardest part. The waiting game. It helps if you play videos of baby ducks hatching. There's some on YouTube that are awesome.

haha ive been watching them the past couple days, i think theyre so cool! i sprayed him earlier when you told me to... thank you so much for helping me with all of this! im a 17 year old girl and i am so lost in all of this but i think its so amazing and i just want a successful hatch! and after all my losses i know that if this one makes it it'll really be special to me! hes still in there peeping away and he keeps sticking his bill through the hole he made lol

great news!! the baby is all the way out of his egg, yolk sac for the most part in, he just looks like hes got a little outtie bellybutton! hes in the incubator drying off right now and resting but when he wakes up he peeps so loud! his eyes are open and hes a strong little sucker! thank you everybody who helped me through this, ill be sure to post a picture later!!
