i think i made it a bit too big because i couldnt find his beak. i dont know what to do im panicking ebcause i cant find the beak but the duckling is peeping still while its in the shell

IT"S OK, first show me how big your hole is..

NO need to find his beak, we are not on the hunt for it. The only thing we need to worry about is 1. Does he have enough air. with your hole, I can say he Passes that test.

Now the second thing is,, since we know he can't run out of air, we need to make sure he can break out of there. avoid taken off any more shell. Just leave it. Get yourself some warm water and Touch his membrane. I'm assuming you can fit your finger in the hole. If you can't THATS good. just drop a couple of warm water into the hole. Don't take his shell off to fit your finger in the hole. Just leave it as is.

Lets try and get some water in there to loosen up that membrane making it easier for him to slip out..

Personally, I wouldn't have done the paper towel around the egg.. But let's see how things go.

Well you gave some key words, one you said, I can't see his beak. Well if his is covered with a paper towel and unless you plan on checking on him every 2 hours to wet the paper towels then your OK.

But if you don't then that paper towel will dry up get as hard as a rock and Lets say he's upside down because you did say you can't see his beak right? Well if he's upside down your not going to see his beak. SO lets just say he is upside down, with the hard dried up paper towel its going to make it very difficult for him to get out.

Now you seem to be having a humidity control issue so Lets say you do check the paper towel every 2 hours well Now your shrink wrapping the others because you have to keep opening that bator. I rather you not open it at all. You also said you had the humidity up around 71, adding that wet paper towel you just increased it.

So there's a lot of scenerio's to take a look at before doing so. What I would do is raise that humidity up to around 70 try to maintain it. Get rid of his paper towel and just let him go. We need him to crack that shell so we know exactly where he is and then go from there.

he got himself out of his shell and was laying in the incubator for a few hours, he seemed too weak to move but i left for maybe an hour around 8pm and when i returned he was dead i hear peeping from another egg in there today but i havent looked. im worried that they are all having the same problem with the membrane being too dry. should i make the tiny hole and drop some warm water in? does that fix it and make it easier for them to get out and with the hole they wont run out of air or anything and have time to move around and get out of the egg right? im so disappointed and upset, i understand its a learning experience but i get so emotionally attached to them because im like proud that i brought them all this way and then they dont make it and i dont know what else to do

Ok if he made it out then it's not shrink wrapped. Something else is wrong with the bator. Can you tell me so you have a fan in there??
