Hatching Pics (first hatch over, second one starting!)

These chicks are killing me! Day 21 is starting and I have 3 out of 13 pipped, one of them being an Orpington. Usually, the Delawares are pipping like popcorn and the Orps are lazy bums, but they are being very slow in these two hatches.

for a good hatch for you.

One Delaware hatched and though it's a couple days behind the others, it's just as big. Kira produces some very large babies with Isaac. There are six others pipped, all four Orps and two Dels, with six left to go. They're not going to make this easy on me. Today is Day 21.

Good luck, Cher! These are the slowest bunch I've ever had, but I know for sure there was one section of the bator that was cooler than it should have been so that may be what's going on. The Flukers digital thermo/hygro was so thin, it used to fall between the rows of the turner, so I used one of those plastic trays that microwave meals come in and cut a "card" for it to be attached to that is an inch wider on all sides than the unit, for a wider base. I didn't move it around the bator like I usually do and those eggs under that card probably didn't get the heat they should have had.

Speckledhen can you post of pic of the splash baby? I hatched a splash Silkie baby and he is very light. Are they all born really light then later get their splash?
