Hatching Pullet Eggs?

Candled tonight (couldn't wait until tomorrow) 27 still growing strong and kicking. Air cells look good. Lock down is Wednesday then we sit on our hands and wait. *Sigh my least favorite time for hatching.

I candled last night all of them look great and lots of movement. One was really cool I could see a very good silhouette of a foot stick out.
3 should hatch this Saturday
1 on Sunday
1 on Monday
then I have three more the weekend of 3/2 (i think, I will have to check when I get home)

Are you going to raise your humidity to 70% during lockdown? That seems very high and I am a little worried about going that high. I was thinking 60% would be good.

I am going to lock down on Wednesday with 60% to 65%, hopefully closer to 60. I just went out and got what I needed to get my brooder set up for the babies and will be setting that up today so it will be all ready. I am washing out the feeders and waterers and will put some rocks in the waterers for the first few days. I lost a baby last hatch in the fall because it fell in the waterer and drowned even though I use a baby waterer. Not cool. Then all I need to do is wait and twiddle my thumbs until Saturday.

Hi, I use marbles in my waterer. They are super easy to clean afterwards for use next time. :)

I had three pullet eggs about 5 months back in an order of hatching eggs. All three hatched and first and the chicklets were tiny when they hatched but are now full sized and I can't tell them apart from the rest

That's what we're hoping for, even if they hatch small they will get to full size the same as the others. So far everything is on schedule just waiting for the waterer and feeder to finish washing in the dishwasher then I will be ready to put them into the brooder. I set it up in front of my pellet stove because that room stays super nice and warm. I don't think I will even have to have a light on for them so they can get used to the natural lighting schedule, which would be wonderful.

I never even thought about the possibility the chicks could fall in the water and drowned. I have a cat water thing in the brooder. It is like 3 inches deep. I better change that out.

I use waterbottles for all my animals. They keep clean and if you dip the beak in de bottle against the balls they learn as fast as they would a waterer or bowl i would imagine. Mine weren't babychicks but they took very fast to it.
And they can't drown in a bottle.
Maybe that's an idee for you to.

Good luck with the end of the hatch, and i hope for nice pullets for you.

So far so good here. We start day 21 in about an hour and I have 3 chicks already hatched and 10 pips out of 27 eggs. They are taking their time just to make me crazy but boy the ones that have hatched are healthy and spunky no issues there.

How is everyone else doing with their hatches??
