hatching quail..I've got pips..and quail!!..and WTHECK is that?

Okay, I have set 120 coturnix and bob white quail eggs. The coturnix are due to hatch on the 16th, I think. I set them on the 30th of April. Does that mean I should take them out of the turner on the 13th? Also, do I bump humidity up to 60% then? I have held steady at 99.5 and 50 % humidity. I do see veining in some of the bob white. Didn't even try to look into the coturnix. The bob white should hatch on what date? I'm new at this so hold my hand please...........

The Coturnix stop turning at 16 days, the bob white I don't know. When we stop turning we put the humidity sponge in and the RH goes up to the high 50% or low 60%.

I thought coturnix could hatch at day 16? 16-18 days is what I think I read. So I leave them in the turner until day 16? They only need 60% humidity?

I stop turning day 15 (but that's ME) I do go against the grain sometimes

(for coturnix). I only do this because they can hatch anywhere from 16-18 and I even had them hatch on DAY 15 go figure. I really dont believe them being turned hurts them as there was one batch I had that I forgot to stop turning (and kept turning) and they still hatched. I went in to turn them and found a fuzzy chick, with other of the eggs pipped (i hand turn). LOL.

Okay, so I can stop turning them on the 15th day and bump humidity up to around 60%? I can't wait to see these little buggars, they are going to be so small compared to my buff orpington chicks that I usually hatch.

What about the Bob Whites? Anyone know about them?

as for bobwhites they incubate 23 days and if that was me i'd stop turning them on day 20 (but AGAIN that's JUST ME) LOL .

I have only had a few hatches that went all the way to day 18. They normally hatch by day 17 at the latest, at least in my bator!!

It won't hurt them a bit to stop turning them early though, just like it won't hurt them to hatch in the turner, unless of course they get their head stuck in it (had one do that on me

). I would probably stop turning the end of day 15, just to be safe. It won't hurt them a bit to stop turning them a day or two early

I dont thikn i've ever had them go later than 18 days though but then again i dont keep track of my hatches of coturnix anymore sooo .....

I have had some that went as long as 21 or 22 days, but those were very large (for me) batches of eggs, and I think it's possible that some of them were old. They started on day 16 or 17, and finally quit 5 days later!

But usually they take about 16 or 17 days, though my first hatch (the two A&M roos I hatched) did hatch on day 15

Okay, so I have some pips in the coturnix eggs. This is day 17. I was getting a little worried that nothing would happen.

I still have the Bob White eggs in the turner in the other bator. When should I take them out?
