Hatching Rouen Duck Eggs

Pics
I hope you got some sleep, they take their own sweet time with hatching so you need your rest.
Thanks! I did end up getting some sleep, I just checked in on them this morning. Looks like another one pipped after I went to bed. So out of 7 eggs, 3 have externally pipped. Still waiting on the other 4 to do it. Not sure if I should take those 4 out and do a safety hole, bc we are getting close if not over the 24 hour mark from internal pip. Or just leave them be and not disturb those that are already pipping.. Day 26!

It’s so hard cause you really don’t want to disturb the humidity but I don’t like to wait longer then 24 hours
I keep my bator in my smaller bathroom and turn my shower on hot and let it run a bit before I open mine. That way the room is hot and humid and keeps the bator good
If you have help and can open quickly it should be okay
There could be a pip under the egg too I have had this happen
Baby was upside down in that case you turn the pip to face up
I use a clean tac and go back and forth till I can make the hole don’t go in deep but make sure the membrane is poked too
Candle first yo see where baby is and go up slightly so you don’t hit baby

I think I'm going to do that.. It has been 24 hours now (well, in 19 minutes lol) since I saw the internal pip yesterday. I just take them out of the incubator, one at a time and poke the hole and then return them, right? not all at once and not leaving the top off. Or should I take them all at once so I dont have to keep opening it back up? I don't have them in the bathroom, but I can put a heater and a humidifier in the room to get it warm and cozy first lol

I would do one at a time
But make sure you lift lid grab baby and lid right back down
Before making the hole check under the egg for any pips and candle to see where the beak is
Let me know how it goes
Yes if you can get the room warm and humidity up that helps

Thank you! I have the heater and humidifier going now, once the rooms warms up and gets cozy, I will start this on the 4 that haven't started yet. I will post updates as I go!

Good luck
Hopefully you see one zip and hatch
It’s the best thing ever to watch :)
@New duck mommy 2021 While I was waiting for the heater and humidifier to get the room warmer, one of the others pipped lol. So I had 4 who had pipped and 3 who hadn't. I gave them another hour or two to see if they would do it on their own. They didn't. So I put a safety hole in each of them, on the upper portion of the air cell, kind of on top of the egg, they were pecking and kicking around so much I could feel it in my hand lol. So now we wait (impatiently) lol. I can't wait to see these guys!

With how active they are I bet they will hatch just find themselves
But you gave them the safety net of air getting in so they don’t die
I can’t wait to see pictures of the little ones :).
I started puzzles to keep me busy when I was waiting for mine to hatch
Otherwise I was standing over the bator non stop 😂
You can tap on it abc whistle and talk to them too
Often then will start to wiggle abc talk back.

@New duck mommy 2021 It is SO hard to not stand over them and watch LOL. I just checked on them again, the ones that pipped on their own, haven't done anything else. The ones I gave the safety hole for, they're still rocking around like GET ME OUT lol.

It’s often a hood 8 hours before you see a second hit
Your first one was a little fast at it
There is no rule how they do it
I actually thought your first was going to be out already he is 1/4 of the way zipped 😆
They are active and trying
