Hatching shipped eggs 2/3... Anyone else Hatch-Along?

Let them settle for 12 + hours in cartons fat end up
Once in the incubator remmber the temps will drop dont touch that dial they almost always go back up on there own once all the eggs get nice and toasty.
Do you have a turner in there. If you do you can set the eggs in it but have it off for the first couple days till the air cells have a chance to stablize. The turner can effect temps though so if you turn it off then on the temp may flucuate make sure your home and up so you can wathc it for sevral hours to make sure it behaves itself. IF not you might want to put them in cartons in the bator for the first sevral days.
Have fun , hatching is awsome but shipped eggs can be a crap shoot.

Time will tell. I put in a few of my own, just in case...
I can't wait til the first candling...

Sat eve Harmony will do her Serama, with my help of course! and then we will do the Cochin on Monday eve

I'll try mine on Sunday. Its going to be hard since the eggs are so dark. I'll be using the sniff tester too.

try laying the egg on a cloth and adding more than one flashlight to candle.... I am going to try it next time I get marans

I'm not sure what you mean by laying on a cloth, what does that do? And the two flashlights... One on each end? Sorry to be so ignorant. I'm going to check them tomorrow night, it will be 7days.
Did you check your serama's yet?

nope kids are taking baths and want to let the ducks swim after so it may be later on this eve

Always wash hands before handling eggs.
The shell of an egg is thin and opaque when held near a bright light. The easiest type of egg to candle is the white shelled egg and some of the hardest eggs to candle are dark brown eggs, like the Maran eggs pictured below.

You could try two or more flashlights to see into them!

Looking forward to seeing how your candling goes! I'm waiting on my first eggs myself right now. I got my Rouen duck eggs in today and I'm letting them sit for 24 hours then will put in the bator tomorrow afternoon! I'm so excited. 28 days seems forever. I also am expecting Americauna and RIR eggs this coming week!
