Hatching under a broody

What is the appropriate number of eggs to hatch under a broody hen ?

8-10 would be NO PROBLEM for a LF Buff Orpington hen...perhaps more.

I have a smaller Gamehen that I would expect to be "overloaded" with 10 .....but perhaps NOT....?

just some "off-the-wall" guesses.
