Hatching winter chicks.

Day 1 of incubation. Cant wait to see what comes out of these. Roo is an EE
Hens are SLW, buff orpington, RIR and a barred rock.
Yes hand turning XD the turner on this would only hold 9.

We just put our first 4 eggs in tonight. Can't wait to see what you get. Ours are our barred rock and a buff orpington lavender orpington cross each kid did 2 of their eggs for the first run.

Good luck with your hatches and have fun... I haven't had much luck with good hatches during the winter months.

Ambient room conditions matter a lot with winter hatching, the air gets really dry from the heat being on. You want to put it in the most stable and draft free area, potentially with a space heater and a humidifier running to keep the room at 72 degrees and 40-50% humidity.

I have a friend who puts her incubator in a closet. It works for her.
