It is different when dealing with baby animals. It helps when they know that the animal is meant for food from the start. (Honestly, I had a harder time sending Butch to be processed than the boys did. Until I realized I wouldn’t have to fix fences all the time. He thought he was a horse. Every time we took the horses out for a ride, he break through whatever fence we had him in - electric, barbed wire or wood - and come looking for us. It was kind of funny to see this Holstein steer come running down the road after us, bellering his head off. Seeing drivers’ reactions when they would come down our road was entertaining, too. It wouldn’t have been so bad if we could have gotten him to go in front of us so it would at least look like we were trying to herd him home.)Dead eggs or chicks is a bit different.
