thanks.
She has like a dried slime-type stuff in her feathers...listen to me, I wouldn't mind having a roo at all.
I know she/he has white tips on wings and white on chest. I am not familiar with the "splash" color so I will have to wait a few days when it is better and I can clean those feathers off. Now it can stay in the bator for another day without food or water...right?
Should be fine another day, then I'd let her drink so she doesn't dehydrate any. We'll know the color once she dries and fluffs completely. A splash looks almost cream colored when dry. Skye has thrown more splashes than Velvet, but she could be light blue. I can never tell till they dry off completely. Here's my first splash I ever hatched:
Hi Carrie! WOW!!!! She looks so much better. It even looks like she absorbed more of the yolk sac. I will be keeping my fingers crossed that she will make it.
I had a little BO hatch last weekend by itself that had an unabsorbed yolk sac also. It was the first lonley chick to hatch, so I also put a beanie baby frog in the brooder. The second didn't hatch until late the same night. They now fight over who gets to be king of the Frog. Poor little chick is still with us and very feisty. I hope it makes it b/c I'm already attached to it.
Cyn, I don't think it is going to be splash if that is what it should look like? Gorgeous little splash you have there. This is blue all over and a completely white stomach and chest with white tips on wings.
Kim, thank you. did yours look like this one? Is that what it is the yolk sac? I keep checking on it. it is so sociable. Love it

Mine is very small and the yolk sac was smaller than your chick's. It didn't absorb it anymore. It might of absorbed just a wee bit, but the rest dried to it's belly. I tried to keep it clean, so It won't get an infection. I think yours looks healthier than mine. I will try to post pics. I tried to post the hatch, but I was having problems w/ photobucket. If I can't post it, I'll e-mail you it. Mine is very feisty, so it might just make it. I hold my breath every time I go to check on it.
Good luck! Do you have more to hatch? Did you feel the earthquake this morning?
no more to hatch this week but next week there will be more going into a bator.
No, we didn't feel the earthquake. Seems everyone else did but our household. LOL
Yes, I would love to see pics of your baby and it's yolk sac. Yours will probably make it too as mine is very active also.
ok, let's try this again... here it is today 19th of April
here it is in it's incubator
with the other chicks to see the size difference. they are two and three days older
It still doesn't seem interested in drink or food that has me very concerned. I am constantly dipping it's beak in the water and tapping my finger in the food. I wet my finger and put food on it but still not interested? What do I do now? very loud and gets around very well.
Carrie, I don't know what to tell you about this one. Never had one not want to eat. You may have to drip water in its mouth or dribble it along the edge of the beak. They'll usually swallow then. Also, do what you told me with feed mixed with yogurt-smear it on the side of its beak and see if it will taste the feed that way. Or just wet the feed so it will stick to its beak. Its definitely blue, a pretty little thing. Do you think it's eating anything at all when you're not watching? I sure hope it perks up soon.
