That's the hole I made. And it's not in the air cell. The air cell is on the other side. Like thisI see where the pip hole is...Looks fine where it was..Or is there another hole?
Really?...That is so strange. How were they incubated?..Did you have the air cells up at Lockdown?..That's the hole I made. And it's not in the air cell. The air cell is on the other side. Like this
I've been using coconut oil. That's what it said to use in the thread I was using to help me assist. Right now I'm just watching them, waiting for full absorption of the yolk and blood vessels. Then make sure they dont get stuck trying to push out.Removing so much shell can cause the membrane to dry up and the Duckling to become shrink wrapped in the egg So oil keeps it moist. Water will actually draw out moisture..
Yes, I had the dip down in the air cell facing up at lock down. I decided to assist because I'm on day 32 right now. And I looked at the underside of the egg and there was a bruise just like it talked about in the link to the step by step guide I posted.Really?...That is so strange. Honestly it's a homemade incubator and its probably been fluctuating in temp a lot. This is my first hatch. And I'm learning a lot!Really?...That is so strange. How were they incubated?..Did you have the air cells up at Lockdown?..
Yes....And don't get too quick to assist them..The vessels look blood filled so it's going to take hours..Ducklings yawn and peep as they absorb the yolk. They sleep lots too..Once ready they get really active in trying to get free so just keep waiting..I've been using coconut oil. That's what it said to use in the thread I was using to help me assist. Yeah, I just basically made the air hole for them because they couldn't get out the back side. Was helping them get air. I peeled a little more on one because I was trying to see the yolk. But I'm hoping they will need no more assistance.
