I need help!!
my red insisted on sitting on her eggs so we let it happen so we could enjoy some babies. The first baby hatched on Father’s Day. An egg hatched the next day but didn’t make it. We noticed it first thing in the morning but by that time it had started an ant issue in the nest. We cleaned it up and put new hay down and some dermitatious earth for the ants.Everything looked good and mom Continued sitting with her new baby. The next day a baby pipped and all looked good I check on the egg again shortly after and the ants infested the egg..out of desperation I pulled the peeping egg up and blew the eggs out of the egg until what seemed like hundreds were gone. I took the egg up to the house to finish hatching under a light. It hatched successfully and is very strong and healthy.Cleaned the coop again and the nest and treated it again for ants. The next thing the same thing happened with another egg and the ants..it also hatched under the light and is healthy and strong but it would have died with the ants. At this point the mom stopped sitting on the Remaining eggs and I was beyond stressed. Those two rescued babies are now four days old and the first baby to hatch is 7days old today june 28th.
So I took the remaining eggs out of the nest with no idea what was fertile and what was not and also no idea what day they were at in development because she continued laying eggs after we stoped marking them and got so mean we didn’t really bother her.
So I candled the eggs.. four had veins and air sacs and noticeable feathers and baby chickens that move. I place those four eggs in an incubator and have it set for higher higher humidity assuming they should be hatching any day.
Im now beyond stressed. I tried to take a pic of what I saw candling but they wouldn’t turn out. Basically what I see is a very noticeable and good size air sac, veins and black blobs with noticeable feathers taking up most of the space but none of the eggs are completely black. One is taking up a little less than the others. They are all Noticeable moving And one really looked like it was taking a breathe. I know your not suppose to candle them later in development but all that was happening I really was left with no choice.
so they are now sitting in the incubator.. and I don’t know what else to do but wait... how long do I wait? No idea..what day are they in development? No idea.....
any suggestions I’ll Take them please I’m beyond stressed
