hatching...

Lockdown should be 2-3 days before they are due to hatch. Most do 2 days.

The sticky said 4 days.

...and...if I set the evening of the 15th - is the 16th day 2?
...so which day is lockdown?
...can they brood with hamsters? - sorry - just wanted to see if y'all were paying attention!

Truly - this is my first attempt, so I'm somewhere between anxious and apoplectic!

They dont get stuck in the rails or anything?

I remove all my eggs from the turners and set them in a hatcher with my LG...never have tried to leave the eggs in the rails with a brinsea either, as active as the little guys are, I would be afraid of one getting stuck somewhere.

Quail lady has definitely had tons more hatchings than I...so would also trust what she says. It might depend on the model of incubator you have though...

I have mixed thoughts on it too, on one hand it would stop the never ending egg soccer game that they seem to love to play after hatching, on the other hand my auto turner takes up most of my incubator so I dont know where the lil guys would go once they hatched.
