I use 3 GQF cabinet incubators for the most part but have 5 cheap bators, 4 Farms Innovators Pro 4250 and 1 Nurture-Rite 360, that I use when I have 'overflow' from the 3 cabinet bators.

I wanted to post an observation I made. Following Slightly Rednecked, I mixed a 50/50 solution of hydrogen peroxide and water and sprayed the eggs with it before putting them in the incubator, as they were dirty and slightly smelled.

I noticed right away when opening the incubator to turn the eggs that the heat made that smell much worse. When it came time to add water to increase the humidity, I decided to add the same mixture instead of plain water. A day later, the smell was gone.

I surmise that the peroxide mixture evaporated, was circulated throughout the inside by the fan, and killed the bacteria causing the odor.
