our eggs are hatching

:) I went to check on the 2 mums coz i could see a broken egg. so i lifted her up and saw the chick and then the mum pecked it but i am unsure as to whether she was being nasty or whether she was trying to push it back under her to safety.we have decided not to check on them anymore.
I am concerned though that they are all upstairs in the hen house - will the chiocks be able to walk down the ramp or will they fall? I can lock them all upstairs with food and water but feel a bit mean doing that to the hens, any suggestions?
Thanks so much for your help. We are first timers hatching eggs :)

Congratulations on your hatchlings! Yeah it would be best to either lock them in (the babies might fall out, they won't be able to get back up again) or move the mummies and babies to a separate enclosure if that's an option?

if we move them are we best to wait for ALL the eggs hatched?

Yes, I would wait until the hatch is complete. Sometimes, if you move them, they'll decide they're done and abandon the eggs. That's a bad thing if you don't have an incubator to finish the off.

Sorry I haven't been on here today :) but yes, wait for the end of the hatch. Hope it's going well!
