Hi
Coturnix hatched before 8.30am (uk time) today. So it’s at least 8 hours old… could be more. It’s not as fluffy as my previous 4 got (they are in the brooder) and it seems very lethargic and not getting up on it’s legs much. It was a breech hatch (zipped the pointy end of egg!) and took a LONG time to hatch (over 24 hours since zipping began).
Do I put it in the brooder and see if it picks up with food and water? It’s still in the incubator at the moment.
Thanks.

I would put it into the brooder. Once it gets some food and water it might perk up, but be aware that very well might not make it. Chicks that have problems hatching often have problems for reasons and fail to thrive.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

Thanks. I have. And it did!! Phew. It’s under the plate heater now. Snuggled with the original 4 hatched.
