hatchling stinks really bad?? is this normal

Is it normal for a duckling that's hatching to stink really bad? He even smelled bad after he was out of the egg? Now that he is fluffy and clean he doesn't stink......his name is stinky Billy
 
I have read that sometimes bacteria get into incubators. . . perhaps you can give him a warm (about 90F) swim, with a dry towel-off just to be sure he's cleaned up.

'Hope an experienced hatcher gives a full answer on this.
