I don't have any other quail this color. I'm guessing it's a he. He hatched June 12th and is the only one this color. The markings seem softer too. Can you help?

Is that the golden red, or is it just red? I am so confused on the two!!

According to Niki, it is a red.....The markings of the two would lead me to call them red goldens as well, but it's supposed to be just red.

The red goldens don't have the yellow spikey feathers on them I guess.

OMG yes it is confusing.....I'm going to stick with calling these Fawn/Gingers...as I feel Fawn/Ginger deffinetly more describes the color then red. The "Red Goldens" I feel are actually the REDS...and then they are Red Tuxedos.

I agree, the ones that are shown above look more like they would be red golden than just red. The ones that are the red goldens do look like they should be just red. Very confusing!!

Hi all....anyone know of a site with color pics of cortunix...that we can inquire ...I find mine a little odd too....

Hi,

This is really going to confuse every one, lol.

In England this variety is known as Cinnamon, more brown in plumage than normals. There is also another variety we have which is very paler in colour to the cinnamon called a fawn, I have five in a brooder at the moment, I'm just waiting until at fully moulted out before posting any photos for you all to see.

We also have another varities, a gold bird that has the cinnamon or fawn colouration, when I come across these two, I'll post photos.

The bird in the photo is a hen by the way.

Ironsun.

mschickychick , the reason you got this cinnamon chick is because the father of it is possably a normal/cinnamon, meaning, it's a normal coloured bird that is carrying cinnamon in it's genes.
