Not good!!! That is not what you want to see with the membrane!! Pull him out!! Get the membrane moistened. Increase the size of the pip hole and see if the inner membrane has him stuck.
If it were me, I'd be pulling the membrane back and making sure that the inner membrane is not glued to him keeping him from moving and turning to zip. Assuming chick and duck eggs are alike. That yellowish/brown membrane is a sign the membranes are drying out and there's a good chance the inner membrane can become sticky and glue like and keep the baby stuck and unable to zip.

Have a wet sponge or cloth ready and if your humidity drops stick the sponge/cloth in there and it should come right back up.Ok so tell me the best way to do this without letting all of my humidity escape?
