Have a rooster, heard a crow

The grey one, got him couple weeks ago with another and he sleeps by himself on roost outsidet the coop. I was told it was a she and about 1 year old. Maybe this photo of him will help.

Sometimes, taking pics of the entire bird sideways, including bird's entire tail, can help alot.
Roosters usually have longer, pointy feathers for the tail, and longer saddle feathers.
Just taking head shots - a few breeds (like Silky) you can't really see it's comb.

i/m thinking either the silkie or your wife is trying to wake you up in the morning and telling you its a rooster! going by looks ..i couldn/t see one at all

I came here looking for this sort of information. I am sure one of my six hens is starting to crow and I'd hate to have to rehouse a bird because its a rooster. So can hens crow?

I don't know which it is yet, I have three, 2 years old and three I bought as pullets coming in to lay. They are all ISA browns, we get average 4 eggs a day from all six. I didn't buy them for eggs so much as to help with gardening and they free range most of the day. One of the younger girls definitely has longer legs and more upright stance but a lot of fluffy feathers still, I can't see anything different in her plummage from the others.
