Have I created a monster?

She is actually in the garage-too messy to have her in the house
I spend most of my time outside so she is usually just loose following me around and when I have to go somewhere, have to be inside or at night, she has a large open cage in the garage that is sitting on a large piece of plastic.
I just hose her cage and the area around it out a few times a day.

You could always use Ducky Diapers and let her live in the house with you :)
My Scrappy Girl in my avatar was hatched in the house with one other duckling, the other duckling sadly died at 11 days and Scrappy became my shadow. I wanted to keep her as a house duck but my husband had a royal fit so I had to teach her to be with the other ducks in the pen. I'm not sure who cried most, me or Scrappy but she did settle in eventually. Scrappy is a year old in a couple of weeks and very much a duck duck now, no more duck/human :)

This is a timely topic... our little duck currently resides in the kitchen, is taking baths in the bathtub and cries whenever I go out of sight. I'm also terrible at at letting her cry, but know I'm going to need to eventually. She's going to have to live with the others!

Easttxchick, I feel your pain!

Whew, it's a relief for me to know that so many of you are as crazy about your ducks as I am-problem is, they are so hard to resist and so darn lovable!
She is currently outside, but it looks like it may storm so I'll fret about her getting scared and run get her-I need therapy...

Good tip, Michelle. You do realize, however, that statement makes you an enabler, don't you?

I hatched out a single silkie duckling early this year. She was so cute and would jump in my hands, and loved to snuggle with me on the couch... She grew up some more and I eventually had to put her in with the chicks I had going at the time - she was just too messy. She cried and made me feel horrible, and wanted to jump in my hands every time I went outside, but that eventually stopped. She now thinks she is a chicken

She doesn't care about me anymore, but if she gets seperated from her chicken gang it's all over. I've never heard a duck quack so loud in my life! I have 3 other silkie ducks, will she hang out with them, NOOOO. She will only dip her head in the pool - no swimming, for goodness sakes, chickens don't swim (I've tried telling her they don't dunk their heads under water either, but to no avail). Of course the group of chickens she hangs out with are showgirls, and of course they all turned out to be roosters accept for 1, so now I have to keep them so I don't break up the happy family. What we won't do for our loved ones

Q says there's no reason that little call ducky shouldn't be inside with his/her human mom!
lol.png
She thinks it's downright neglectful that most ducks are forced to live outside, without comfy dog beds and blankies!!!

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh talk about adorable!!! Q is gorgeous!! I wish I could have one of my ducks (or all of them LOL) in the house. I heard my Husband tell his buddy that I spend so much time with my ducks I probably have a blanket out there to nap with them LOL!
