Sweet, first time with a broody and the first time trying to hatch eggs. Should be fun. My broody has been trying to hatch golf balls for the last week while I got some fertile eggs. She is good to go.

She went broody the same time my neighbor lost most of his WLH flock to a fox. Since my coop is maxed out with chickens for the winter I ordered WLH eggs and will give him what ever hatches.

I'm post pics later today of my broody.

I've got a broody now who is attempting my first hatch. I think it's going to end badly. The eggs were supposed to hatch yesterday, and NOTHING. There IS an egg that is around day 9 or so (idiot chicken managed to go lay an egg on my broody, and my house sitter didn't notice). Whoops.

That's why I got that incubator, so I could try hatching without a broody. But now I'm just sad because I think the turning feature is broken.

I've had trouble getting replies on some posts too. They are meant to be very good the Mini Advance, in searching this forum for info about my incubator, I came across loads of thumbs up for the Mini Advance.

My husband is an engineer, I'm thinking about having him take it apart tonight.

I figure I'll just stick the new eggs under the broody while he's tinkering.

Every day I have been closing up the coop just for my broody so he can eat in peace from the other chickens. She does not appear to eating the food I put in her cage so I pick her off the nest and put her next to the food. After a little while she starts eating, broody pooping

and dust bathing. I switched the golfballs with the eggs during this time and came back in 30 minutes and she was right back on the nest.

You're so very welcome! She looks like she's going to be a good mama! Don't worry she will get up and eat and poop and drink when she needs to, so don't make her get off the nest unless you absolutely have to. Continuing to bother her may break her broodiness. I had one a month ago that I never thought got up until I caught her walking around the run and then back to the coop to drink and eat a bit then back on the nest she went.

GOOD LUCK!
