Have large pest problem

We have knats,flys and mosquito problem in our backyard. We have chicke s a d duck. Can we use back yard spay on other side of yard far enough away from animals. If not any other suggestions what to use.

Lavender and marigolds deter mosquitoes. You can even brush up against the plants to get their scent on you.
I live across the road from a marsh. These two things really do work.
