I have hens that have just started laying in the last 3 wks. i live in sw okla and it has been hotter this summer than it is right now, 104 degrees. The hens have plenty of water shade, water inside and outside of coop. i have put electrolytes in water today and put out some aeroymycin. i am at a loss why i lost the 2, one a silver lace and the other a bantam stiffenhauben. neither acted any different and then i just found them. i have watched them closely today and they are digging, fluffing feathers and have beaks opened somewhat. not any different behavior than i have noticed all summer. july we had 110 to 112 degrees. any ideas. the bantam had somewhat of a bloody stool but dont see any through out coop. pretty normal poop. thanks for your help. we are farmers and ranchers but i dont really know what to look for in a fever with poultry.

It could be bacterial...which can kill in less that 24 hours. Cook up 1 1/2 c brown rice to 1 cup water for 45 mins. boil water- add rice- turn heat down- let cook. add 1 steamed garlic head to the mix feed for at least 3 days. I use a garlic steamer from amazon.com. It says to use oil but I use water.
