Just curious, as it seems this time of year we hear about a ton of misidentified chicks.

I know it can happen, I even sold one once that was not what it was suppose to be. Hence, I have fences in my hatcher to keep the little guys from jumping into another tray.
 
I'm pretty good at knowing what chicks look like by breeds available at the farm stores, but sexing them is another story!
Getting cockerels in bins labelled as pullets is very common around here. It's more about sloppy sexing at the hatchery, at least here.

At my feed stores the little kids pick up the chicks and put them in the wrong bin. The next day some unknowing person walks past the barred rock bin to see a red chick. "Oh this must be a rare one!" and takes it home without knowing it's a RIR....
