Have you had experience with Research Associates Lab?

Hey all,

Anyone have any experience sending samples into Research Associates Laboratory (VetDNA)? I have sent samples into them before for both DNA testing of hatching shells for gender and blood samples to test for MDV in my flock. I'd like to know others' experiences on how accurate their results were. The DNA gender testing from hatching shells was 100% accurate but I'm curious about their disease testing. I'm considering sending samples in to test for mycoplasma, but it occurred to me that running a PCR test on Mycoplasma Gallisepticum might not be entirely effective since isn't it bacterial, not viral? Any thoughts or experiences???? Thanks!

It is true that mycoplasma is not a bacterium, but it responds to antibiotics the same as bacteria. I have never had any testing performed myself, but I am always trying to learn from others’ experiences on BYC. Recently I came across a couple of articles about the older Elisa testing for MG and other mycoplasmas versus PCR testing which might be interesting:
