Have you planted a garden yet?

Nope, still snowwing....maybe put some lettace varieties in pots this weekend. I have some shrub and trees to plant!

HennyPenny -

Strawberries do extremely well in pots! Many people choose to grow them in pots instead of in the ground because of this! They sell strawberry pots and strawberry growing-tubes for this very purpose. If there's anything you can grow right now, it's strawberries in pots!

I personally do one of my varieties only in pots - they do better in there! I have another two varieties out in the garden.

I planted.
potatoes
squash
cucumbers
corn
onions
green beans
tomatoes.
I am going to try growing tomatoes in a swinging bucket this year. I am also going to grow the ultimate tomatoe by better fertilizers and pruning leave and any suckers so the plant puts all it's energy into the tomatoes.

I have leafy greens and peas in. And eggplants, tomatoes, peppers, marigolds, and ground cherry started inside.

We will be tilling and planting tomorrow. it is beautiful here, and really we now have the time to do them. I started some from seeds way too early, and neglected them (once we got the chicks my attention was focused on them more) and the little plants died. so we are starting from seeds tomorrow. but we want to have

cukes
tomatoes
watermelon
green beans
pumpkin
jalapenos
chili peppers
corn

I started my herb garden last fall, so it could winter over and deep root themselves:
rosemary
garlic
thyme
lavender
catnip
sage
oregano

now that it's getting warmer they are starting to get greener and perk up and it smells so good walking to my front door where my herb bed is. I still need to get Basil and dill planted. and will do a lot more garlic this fall, because not all the ones I planted sprouted, but it's still early, hopefully they are bulking up and late sprouters. I love spring!

Lots of gardening to do tomorrow! I already have planted strawberries, lettuces, spinach, cabbage, broccoli, last fall's garlic, last year's onions that wintered over, potatoes, leeks, peas, some seed onions that will winter over till 2010. And of course we have asparagus, berry bushes and tree fruit that were planted a few years ago. Should get some fruit this year, I'm hoping.

Have one flat each of tomatoes, peppers, and curcurbits (squash, cukes, melons, gourds).

This weekend: Onion sets, beans, grains/greens/sunflowers for chicken feed, grapes, couple of viburnums that get edible fruit. A friend is coming over tomorrow to help me rabbit-proof the garden fence.

Next weekend: Corn and herbs (several kinds each of sage, basil, thyme, medicinals, tea herbs)

Weekend after that, hopefully the seedlings in the flats will be big enough to set out.

My apricot trees are blooming, and my peach trees are working up to it--hopefully they'll be flowering by Sunday.

We started planting ours mid-march and just finished yesterday! We have 5 4x4 beds plus one long strip running along our fence. This is what we have planted:

tomatoes
peppers
broccoli
leeks
many different herbs
eggplants
scallions
onions
strawberries
pole and bush beans
corn
spinach
lettuce
rhubarb
asparagus
radishes
beets
carrots
potatoes
artichokes
various squashes and melons
some Atlantic Pumpkins (can't wait for those, lol!)
