have you seen Green Frog Design

Are we 10 years late replying to this comment? Maybe.
Have we rebranded as Nestera and just launched in the US with free shipping? Yes!

You MUST change the advertised number of chickens if you want to be taken seriously by experienced chicken people. New folks take the advertisement at face value and wind up with too many chickens for the space, multiple problems from the inhumane treatment, and then it's left up to us forum people to let them know companies like you are lying to them. Why do you want to grow this kind of reputation?

very cool coops, awesome to see recycled products, but they don't offer nearly enough floorspace or ventilation for the amount of chickens you're advertising.
Hi @littlecoopnextdoor and @SourRoses glad to hear you're into recycled products too! The floorspace in each of our coops exceeds what is recommended by the Poultry Club of Great Britain's guidelines, as well as the Soil Association's guidelines.
Every Nestera coop has up to two predator-proof adjustable vents on one side, with a series of open ridges hidden under the roofline on the other to allow a constant flow of fresh air - not to mention the large door which can be left open during the day.

Glad you're trying to exceed the bare minimum requirements (which were likely set by industry) but go even bigger if you can, or reduce the amount of chickens you advertise can fit in each one. Crowded chickens (especially if stuck in there for in climate weather, repairs etc) leads to injury, disease etc.

In a backyard environment, for each standard-sized chicken you want:

4 square feet in the coop (not including nest boxes)
10 square feet in the run
1 linear foot of roost
1 square foot of permanent, 24/7/365 ventilation.

Additionally, the roost should be above the nestboxes and the ventilation should be above the birds' heads when they're sitting on the roost.

Lead the way for prefabs to have good space and ventilation for the birds 🙏
