Have you started your Garden yet?

along w/ chixn poo...and/or fish fertilizer

seaweed fertilizer...worm castings made into a tea

also before i plant in spring...we mix in well aged horse manure...@ end of season we put about 4 inches of chopped up leaves under the black landscape fabric

Garlic spreads pretty well, right? Someone told me that if I didn't get it all out at the end of the season it would be everywhere next year. I was thinking of making a seperate, raised & lined bed to keep it from spreading too much. do you guys think it'll work?

I HAD to put another picture of the corn up...i think I have mutant corn, it's growing So fast! (See pg1 for a pic from yesterday)

I had to put a stick in to 'tent' the plastic because it was touching the shoots.

I have just been turning soil and adding composted soil to many areas. We had snow yesterday, but hopefully just one day.Shuffling my seed packets around deciding what I can put in soon. I want to plant a lot of ground cherries and tomatillos this year.I took a liking to them. I am also into tall plants and have some corns and sorghums I will start early.

I have seedling trees coming on the 16th from the county.I got plum, pawpaw, elderberry, serviceberry, and hazelnut.I have to plan where to put them so I won't have to move them later.I just planted 6 corkscrew willows and forythesia(sp).I have a bunch of rose of sharon I want to move and train into a hedge.I am in a fish bowl and need to grow some privacy. Can't wait to get my truck load of soil!

Seeing the corn makes me want to plant indoors even though mine usually die. I want a harbor freight greenhouse!

I have never had a problem with garlic spreading. I just plant it in the fall and harvest it in the summer. It is so easy to grow, just make sure it is weeded and watered and that's all.

I started my seeds last week, we have tomatoes, vine peach, mini catilope, peppers, jalapinos, korean licorice mint, lemon mint, cin. basil ,lemon grass, basil, tomillios, chives, onions, yellow strawbarried, borage,Johnny jump up,creeping thyme, canadoula, black cumin,Epazote,(sorry bad spelling:) a few more but I forget, I have some prevously planted cherry tomatoes and a few other plants. I have tons more to plant, most directly into planters or the ground. So far we have built 2 of the 6 raised gardens, we want one in the front so we have seeds coming in the mail from ebay of edible yet gorgous flower/herbs I can't wait. We decided it was best for us to stagger the building projects that way we can fill a new one with a weeks worth of rabbit litter:) Today we decided to grow fancy pole beans so that the chicken run is covered up, a long line just out of reach should cover them up nicely:) Can't wait to plant them out side as my kitchen table is covered with mini green houses:)

bleenie- time to transplant before the corn gets too big...it has a hard time being transplanted...i hope to have a mini corn patch this yr also...last years failed miserably

dntd- holy mackerel...you sound like me...lol...i posted a pic a little earlier (kinda hijacked bleenie...sorry)...thats not whats already in my garden...or what i am holding in my bathroom(only room w/ southern exposure light)

bleenie- i know you said heirloom tomatoes...have you ever tried one called "bloody butcher"?....just wondering in cause we werent impressed but maybe we just had a bad batch...dunno

I'm not sure which kinds were in the packet but most of them came up, I'm just hoping they continue growing well. I wanted to start everything lyself this year instead of buying it. I have some called 'red lightning' but i didn't plant any, I may still though. The corn is even bigger now and opening up some so I HAVE to get it moved into something else today.

ETA: I marked out a spot for the corn that is about 25' x 10'..i think i may have to make it a little bigger if most the starts make it.

We don't plant that much but we are starting to build a greenhouse, we're going to plant radishes soon, and my mom planted a bunch of different flowers in our little garden near the mini waterfall.

And we just got some new mulch.

I don't have many pictures but here are some of my baby chick, Ivory, in the garden playing in the new mulch.
