yuck.. I would not want a 5 foot snake ANYWHERE on my property chicken or no chicken... My DH keeps telling me that we will be getting snakes when the chickens start laying eggs.. OHHHH I am so not looking to that day.. I might just get a bb gun.. and I hate guns.

That "musk" is a secretion from the cloacal glands. It smells REALLY AWFUL -- which is kinda the point. Some snakes, like rat snakes, use it more than others.

I turned him loose on the other side of the yard-where he is welcome to eat mice all day long!
