Having Frostbite issues. Ventilation?

when it gets cold out we have a heat lamp that we put on inside ! ive found that it stays nice and toasty in there and it prevent frostbite! and proper ventilation would do good as well !

I know some people avoid heat lamps due to the fire danger.

i can assure anyone that heat lamps are very safe! i have had one on every winter running all day ! just make sure to put it in a safe location where bedding cannot touch the lamp !!!!!!

I've also read in a few places that heatlamps can contribute to chickens dying because of large temp swings being in and out of the lamp area. No idea if true though.
IF you have it heated to a temperature extreme enough from ambient and your power goes out you might well have birds die. I don't think a little would hurt---but I also think if it's cold enough to warrant heat a little isn't going to do much.

Once temperatures are in the -10F range sudden swings are killers.

Everything works perfectly until it doesn't.

I have seen too many smouldering piles of ash and had a close call myself. I don't use them despite regularly seeing -30F. Temperatures much lower than that for more than a day or two are getting into the range where heat might be a good idea... in general, anyway. Most of my LF are fine; the ones that aren't are brought inside for a few hours to 're-set' their internal temperature now and then. It really helps.
