Having Mental Pause Moment...question about duck hatching....

OK, several hours have passed and he is fluffy and part of the crowd! I can barely tell him apart from the others now! I'm so happy I helped him.

Now, hands OUT of the incubator...

Yay! Babies! ♥

I keep saying this, but my Buff duck is sitting on (now it's grown to) TWELVE eggs!

Some are due relatively close, but a couple started developing later; I think they were laid after she started sitting full-time. I couldn't just throw out more babies...

I'll have to put the oldest ones in a brooder when they hatch and hope she continues sitting on the remaining ones.

It hurts to wait 28+ days.

The wait is just excrutiating! Then, when they decide to hatch so s-l-o-w-l-y and over so many days, it makes you want to scream! But, they are soooo cute. There is something to getting them ONE AT A TIME. My husband, who is usually a grump about the animals AND who sleeps during the day because of work, gets up every couple of hours to go to the hatcher to check for progress. He peers in through the plexiglass top and is like a kid on Christmas morning....and since he is Jewish, he's NEVER done Christmas morning!!! LOL.

How can one tiny little thing be sooo cute!!

They're certainly cuter than chicken babies! Pleh, chicks are cute, then they aren't, then they get all their feathers. Haven't gotten to the point where they're older yet, so I don't know about how nice they are, but I know that DUCKS AND GEESE are amazing!

They stay cute forever! And when they're old with all their feathers they're kind of majestic.
