Having progressive pictures to help ID chicks

The pics aren't posted anywhere yet for public viewing. We have a good deal of work to do until they're ready for public viewing. Mainly resizing, formating, organizing, and building the breed pages and getting the pics loaded into their respective breed pages.

We can certainly use any help we can get, so if any of that sounds interesting let us know!

Hey all!

If pictures are linked to from here to a place like photobucket and then deleted from photobucket, they will be deleted (image missing) from here too.

If you guys have the images formatted, cropped, chose, filtered out, named, etc. and they are ready for prime time, I'm happy to have them hosted on BYC.

Are you up for building the web pages?

We need a basic format for the pages, which I have sort of worked out as far as the data is concerned, but we need to figure out how we want to display the photos. My sample page is here.

The photos aren't going to have that frame around them, so we will need a title for each photo with the info on the bird in the photo (age, color, sex) and the contributor. I don't know if it's easier to make the pages with a plain "space holder" photo in each spot and then plug in the photos that we have once the pages are built, or if it would be easier to plug in the photos that we have as the pages are being built (although we would still need a lot of "space holders" for photos we don't have yet).

I tend to think it would be easier to build the pages and go back to plug in the photos. We could do the same thing with the breed info as well.

I have been uploading photos onto my computer, doing any cropping and resizing that's necessary and making thumbnails of each photo.

I can upload them wherever would be easiest, but I'm thinking it might be best for you to build the breed pages without the photos at this point, which will give us a bit more time to hopefully gather more photos, and then we can plug in the photos all at once.

What do you think?

I'll have pics of my 3 day old EE's and polish chicks this evening. *EDIT* I saw you only want just born chicks - should I wait until they are a week old to take pics?
Maybe then you can tell me what kind they are!!

Also, do yall want just chickens for now or other poultry too? I have quite a few pics of my ducks at different ages.

hippiehen: go into the link in my signature to see the ages we are looking for regarding the pictures. We would love any pictures you have that correspond to those ages.

We need all the help from people we can get with pictures. If someone sends in only three pictures, but we get three pictures from someone else and one picture from someone, etc. we will be able to put together a great resource for our BYC members to use.

Also, even if we have pictures of a certain breed, at a certain age - if we get another picture from someone else that is better - we'll use it.

So - keep sending in those pictures.
