Having trouble getting ice out of waterers

I agree rubber pans are Great!!! they come in different sizes too.they also make the heavy rubber buckets i use them for my goats.i put a wire poultry cover over mine it keeps the ducks and birds from fouling up the water.

I now have all of my birds but my ducks in the garage temporarily because I had two die because of the nasty weather! They're gonna live in there until they get new housing. I'm building breeding hutches. somewhere they have more insulated housing

Just have more than 1 bucket so you can change it out a couple times a day. Even take them inside for the evenings.

well im going to get them new housing so i think im going to start using heated water bases but they are going to live in my garage for a while.

I have built 5 water heaters out of junk and use plastic founts. so far they have gone through -14 degree temps. without ice. none of the founts have melted. sure beats carrying water that starts to freeze before I get to the pens. these are similar to ones seen on BYC but with some important changes. they work, are cheap, and worth every min. I spent on them. A silkie even did a happy dance at my feet when she had seen what I had done.
