I found my chicken injured today. Missing feathers on her side and a gaping wound in her crop area of her chest. It looks like a blob of fat in the opening. She has been drinking and eating and also layed an egg today. Not sure what to do about her wound. Its hidden well under her feathers so im not worried about the other chickens pecking at her. What should I do?

That blob of fat may be the actual crop, can you include pictures? You may also have to do something to keep the flaps together so that they heal properly but it may not be that bad.

I think she made need stitches, is there a vet in your area that can do that?

I brought her to a vet and she's been stiched up. She's doing very well now.
