Boy do I wish I knew, because we have a few hawks around here just waiting for an opportunity to get our birds. They literally sit in the trees watching them. What works for deterrent for hawks?
Anyway, what I do - and idk if it’s helpful- is hang this iridescent tape/foil that I got on Amazon from the netting, fencing, and trees. It looks ridiculous, but it really does catch the light and I think it may discourage hawks. We also have a variety of wind chimes that I hang from the tree branches over our chickens, free, ranging area, which is netted. Finally, I try to have various obstacles that I move around within the chickens’ ranging area, these include a big convex mirror that I move about to try and scare any hawks who might be thinking of coming in.
All of this said, we did have a hawk come through our old netting and kill a hen last winter. I have redone the. Netting since then and so far so good.
Good luck!
