Ricky Rooster has only been out of the barn once in the last two weeks. I couldn't figure out why he was always in hiding. Ever since someone dumped him here a month ago, he's had full run of our 2 acres plus he's been in the woods that surround our property.

Today the wind blew some newspapers around behind the barn and when my grandson and I went to get them, up high in one of the trees was a huge hawk! Now I know why Ricky is staying in the barn and rarely venturing out.

I went in and got the shot gun and shot it straight up in the air, to scare it. I know its illegal to shoot them but I darn well can scare it. It took off. Later on this afternoon, it was back. I again grabbed the shot gun and it took off as I raised it.

I put my 3 dogs out behind the barn for the rest of the day and didn't see him out there again. I think he's been hunting Ricky!

I'm determined he's not getting my Ricky!

Me too. Now I know the purchase of a Great Py was a good idea. If it hadn't been windy, if there weren't newspapers in our barn, if I hadn't decided to go get them.....UGH!

Because they're are no leaves on the trees yet, that's how I saw him. Otherwise he would have been hidden by them. Now it makes perfect sense to me. Poor Ricky.

We'll chase that hawk off somewhere else. He's not going to get an easy meal HERE!
