Ducklings have been going missing, dragged through the bars... And today I think I found the cause. I was browsing BYC when I heard my pet four-month-old muscovy (Who's for some reason adopted a duckling) going crazy outside. I saw the cause. A hawk had pinned Fluffy (The adopted duckling who's about a month old) down on the ground. The muscovy was trying to attack the hawk, but he was no match for it. I raced outside and scared the hawk away. I picked up Fluffy and took him inside. His breath was ragged and he had a puncture wound that was bleeding quite heavily. I propped him upright, stopped the bleeding, and cleaned the wound with tea-tree oil. That was a few hours ago, he's now sitting in a well ventilated box with his muscovy friend for comfort. I haven't given him food or water, in fear of it flooding out his lungs. I'm guessing the hawk punctured his lung. It's currently 8:40 pm in New Zealand. I'm going to bed soon. He's perked up and is pecking around. Any help is greatly appreciated. (I haven't found an avian vet in my country yet....
