I know I will be told I should put her out of her misery, but she doesn't really seem ready to give up. I found my hen this morning. A hawk had gotten her, I picked her up and she must have thought I was going to eat her, she started crying and screaming. Poor thing. When she realized it was me, she snuggled up under my chin. Anyway, when I finally was able to look at her injuries I was surprised that she was even alive. She is missing a lot of the left part of her breast. I just checked on her and she is still alive. I don't know what to do for the wound as it is sooo open. I had a hen that had a hole in her body cavity once. I kept her on antibiotics and she actually healed. I am giving this hen antibiotics in a dropper, and I have wrapped some vetwrap around her body to cover the breast, but don't know if there is something else I should or could put on it or if it will even heal over.
She is my little mamma turken. (turken bantam) she is so precious, I hate to lose her expecially if she can heal. When I put her her in a crate this morning she was laying down. The last few times I have checked her, she is standing. With her eyes closed, she is very quiet. ok, is there anything I can do for the open wound? Do you think she can heal?
