Hawks have been circling low and slow, letting out feather ruffling keers.

We have put up CDs and mylar whirlagigs all over the yard and I think the hawks are
getting wise to them.

With a nod to history my wife and I are taking our defense of River Road Fowl Free Range a step further.
We are going to put up a couple of helium filled mylar balloons. One will have feathers taped to it to disguise it
as a chicken. When a hawk dives on it it will explode expelling harmless gas but giving it a shock hoping it
will be dissuaded from being curious about our range.

Let the games begin. LOL

What a great idea. Please let us know if the hawk goes for the exploding chicken balloon. I think I will try that myself, there was a hawk flying low over my chicken yard yesterday afternoon.

Interesting and creative! I'll stay tuned to see if it works!

I love the concept. Please let us know if it works. At your first verified hawk attack, I will put up a 20 bird helium pigeon flock to protect my Birmingham rollers. Let the games continue.
