Hello so this morning I saw two hawks just observing my chickens, and luckily I was there to scare them off, but I won't always be here and I'm afraid for my chickens. I will be leaving soon for a summer program for a month, and no one in my family knows how to take care of them that well. I know that hawks can't just be banned, but I'm scared if they come and I'm not there.

yes we use a shed
Does it have a fenced & covered run attached? I think that’s what M-H-F was asking.
The coop is where they sleep, and usually where the nest boxes are... the run is where they can be outdoors without being in danger.

You will have to decide whether you think it’s worse to limit their freedom somewhat, but they still get to be outdoors, vs the chance that a predator might harm them. It’s a part of animal husbandry to weigh the options and choose the one you can live with.
