Hawks everywhere!!

Some of the apparent increase in hawk abundance is because of a change in their behavior. Breeding season starts with defining territories where the birds are more concerned with advertising their presence to other raptors. This can involve a lot of sound production even when flying a low levels. Today I had a Red-shouldered Hawk raise all kinds of Cain around the barn when the same bird would normally be very quite.

I just had one flying pretty low. Looked likeitwas on a mission coming towards me. It defintely had something in its sight. A couple nights ago it was an owl flying pretty low over the car.they are definitely out and about.

You have 5-10 hawks? Are you sure some of them aren't something else? Hawks don't flock, you don't usually see more than maybe two in the same place.
And yes, if you have hawks, you need a roof.

Yes 5-10 hawks. I posted a picture in another thread one member seemed to identify it. But some of them perch in pairs a few branches away from the other but I’ve seen as many as 3 perched in the same tree, they do travel or hunt in pairs sometimes, I think near a heavily wooded area across the street has a lot of marshland too so I’m thinking could be different families? Today I brought out one of those thin full-size mirrors and tilted it just right so the sun would reflect into the trees surround my property and where they usually come from ( I admit I hit a couple with the glare and they flew away pretty quick it worked pretty well)
