Hawks

I vote for feeding the crows if you have any close by....our crows chase the red-tailed hawks away. Plus they make a very distinctive noise when the hawks are about. My chickens run for cover as soon as they hear it.

I'm thinking of planting some apple trees in the run area. Do you think that would help keep the hawks away? I've seen the hawks circling while I'm out running my dog at about 3-4pm. There are plenty of chickens in the neighborhood though. It doesn't seem like there have been any taken by hawks though because the owners aren't doing anything different.

My coop is by my vegetable garden which has a fence around it. Not positive this works but I put a fake plastic crow on every post & have one plastic owl as well. It might of helped some because I have alot of crows around the farm.They like my pecan orchard. I also have plenty of places for the chickens to hide under as well.
