HCG???? Any success???? Any not so much success????

Don't know the answer to those questions, I just know it has worked out that way for me and several other people I actually know that have done it. This diet was popular in the U.S. apparently in the 70's and is making a comeback now here in the States, but has been being done in Europe for the entire 40 years w/ success. When I did the research before starting the program it was hard to find any unbiased info on the subject, and I never did find any info that actually broke down how it does what it does. When I first heard about it I was hugely skeptical and started doing the research to prove to my workmates how wrong they were. You are absolutely correct in that any permanent weight loss will require permanent eating, exersice changes which I have implemented and will continue to implement, but this is a tool that if used right can really help, or has helped me and several that I know personally.

I am about to run out of drops, I have enough for a day maybe two, so I'm going to do an experiment. I will continue to eat the same way after I run out of drops to see if there are any changes in weight loss rate and/or discomfort (ei hunger). See for myself if the drops help any at all, or if it is just the calorie count. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks as of this morning I'm down around 5 lbs so far this round and a few more inches, but this isn't my official weigh day so it doesn't count.

I'm really glad you are losing the weight you want but if your are restricting your calories that much why need the drops? are they supposed to make you feel less hungry? I worry once you go off the diet the weight will come back. Its really not good to lose weight that quickly or restrict your diet that much. I went on a low fat diet once. Cut my fat intake too low and ended up drying myself up. Meaning my skin and hair got dry and had a constant thirst. The doctor said you need fat in your diet and too low will cause problems. I lost weight best when I didnt diet just watched portion size. I am glad you are losing and are happy, just be careful.

When you have a meal, eat your higher protein foods first. That will help you stay full longer after your meal. Sounds like you've got a good foundation for a healthy eating plan. That's the key (not the drops, BTW).

It is a myth that drinking a glass of water right before a meal helps you stay full longer. The truth of the matter is that what happens is that the chewed food creates a slurry in your stomach when it mixes with the water, which then moves out of your stomach and into your intestines much quicker (and less processed). The result is often a discomfort shortly after eating, yes you feel full faster, but you are also hungry again an hour later and end up actually eating more. You get full, but you don't stay full. The key to not indulging between meals as much is staying fuller longer. Your higher protein foods take longer for your stomach to digest/process, so it is better to eat those first to maintain a satisfied feeling.

Just my 2 cents. Sounds like you're doing well. Congratulations on your weight loss so far.

Yes the drops are supose to make you feel less hungry and free up stored fat easier. I drink a minimum of 64 oz of water a day and know I am not dehyrating (I know the signs/symptoms of dehydration). I was off the drops for 5-6 wks and continued to lose, but at a much slower rate (1200 cal eating plan)

Thanks, I know the drops aren't the answer to permenant weight loss and getting in shape, but I am using them as one of many tools. And I never drink w/ meals or just prior, I have a long history of abdominal problems (ibs later learned was gluten intolerance) anyway drinking while eating is frowned upon w/ digestive problems.

That is interesting about protiens first to feel full longer, another reason to eat your protiens first is the way the digestive system works you have the highest amount of digestive acids released just after eating, so if you eat the harder to digest foods first it is easier on your digestive system.

Okay, I do not know the physiologic reason behind the hcg, how, what, or why it does what it does, but after trying to maintain a 500 cal diet w/o the drops I can tell you for a certainty they do, do something. Maintaining the 500 cal diet w/ the drops was relatively easy, w/o was a nightmare. I ran out of drops in the middle of my last week and decided to finish up the week w/o drops but keeping everything else the same. So I am officially off the drops and 500 cal diet I lost 30 lbs and 15 inches. in just under 15 weeks. I continued to exercise throughout whether I was on drops or not (did two diff rounds of drops) I am continuing to exercise now and going to tighten and tone everything up, but it was a well spent $$$$$ and time.
