To me when you cull something you remove it from your flock because it is defective or not what you are breeding for. We have culled many birds by eating them, feeding them to the dogs, or giving them away on craigslist. When it comes to the good breeds that we dont want our name attached to them for a trait (ex. a sumatra with white based feet) then we either kill them or take them to a trader, that way they wont get out and ruin a reputation when someone shows the cull and says "Oh I got it from so-and-so."
