HE Washers - Love? Hate? Opinions?

We line dry as much as possible. Towels and bedding get the dryer, jeans sometimes, everything else line drys. We have 2 LG washers and 1 dryer, it works well. There are 9 kids here, must have 2 washers.

Had to get the soap recipe from the kid who does the laundry. 8 oz of Dr Bonners liquid, whatever scent, plus 1 cup each borax, baking soda and washing soda. Mix into 2-3 gallons very hot water, then fill to 5 gallons.

OMG, the goats! I hadn't thought of that! I've only had mine a couple weeks. I'll have to keep them penned when I'm going to line dry.

I'm so glad you mentioned that! Lol.

Blessings-
Em

I only have sheep and they just attack the flowers not the laundry.

But I do have to keep a watch on the horses, for some reason they think we should all smell like them.

In the last five years I moved out of my roommates house, lived on my own, moved in with my fiancé, and then bought a house with my wife. I've used four sets of washers and dryers in that time. Three were HE. The only thing I didn't like was having to kneel down for the front loaders. I owned a HE TOP LOADER set from Fisher & Paykel and I REALLY liked it. Currently I have LG front loaders that are twice the price of the F&P.

I have an LG HE and I love mine. I wish I would have gotten the dryer that had the steam option on it though. My fastest wash time on my dryer is 28 minutes per load. The dryer takes about 45 minutes to dry. I need two dryers to keep up with my washer.

I have a Maytag HE; love it. I do agree that the dryer cannot keep up, but while I don't "line dry," I often hang shirts and some slacks on hangers while wet and then hang the hangers from the ceiling fans (convenient, if strange) until dry. Kind of wish we'd gotten the dryer when we replaced the washer, but I have only ever bought a set once, and that was my first, a very, very old Maytag set bought in 1978. So it dated back to about '58.
