HE Washers - Love? Hate? Opinions?

how do you like those bars?... I was told by my extended warranty folks that the will void my warranty so I have not tried them *yet*

The dryer bar will void your warranty!? That's preposterous!

I love them. You have the power to forget all about fabric softener except once or twice a year- and WE DO LOTS OF LAUNDRY!! I have teen daughters and a hubby who works outside...and I'm always kneeling in chicken-poop...so we wear our clothes out washing them. The bars are great.

yeah i know.. its written in the fine print if we alter the machine in any way.. use non HE products it *could* void any additional coverage we have purchased

I am wondering how much studies have they really did before passing out the void information? Would it cause build ups of soaps and dryer bars? Probably something that the manufacters don't want us to know or get some save cutting on HE detergents. Is it any different than have some pocketful of sand or coarse dirt? Probably not.

I am going to start shredding my fels naptha bars. I really don't see any harm to it.

Love my HE. I got the Kenmore set too! My only problem is that if it is on max cycle it shakes the room down! DH actually plans on putting in new joists under the laundry room to stabilize the floor. In the meantime I only run it at medium spin. The clothes still come out so much drier that we are saving quite a bit on dryer electricity. (We did one of those studies where you attach the meter to the item for a few days to see what uses the most electricity - boy were we shocked!)

I have a Whirlpool Cabrio HE washer and dryer. The washer is top loading, but doesn't have the old-school agitator, which means larger loads... (YAY!) The dryer is also larger and can handle any sized load that the washer can. I have had mine for almost 4 years, and I still love them! Good luck with your search! I don't know about where you live, but we went when there were tax break deals for HE washers and we looked at Sears, Home Depot, and Lowes. Lowe's had the best price at the time.

with the NON HE soaps they do cause a build up shhh dont tell anyone..LOL i have used them when in a pinch

the only thing i can think of with the bars you put into the dryer is the prolonged imbalance my wear the bearings prematurely

I hate ours. It does NOT clean real dirt...just moves it around to the rest of the clothes. I end up washing real dirty things 2x if not a 3rd time. Then it gets a bad smell real fast...ugh. I can't stand the stupid thing. Hair is still on there, grass bits, dirt, anything, it stays, just gets moved or diluted.

Ours does get stinky really fast if you leave wet in there, but I found our stuff much cleaner in this one than our old top loader..... Wonder if something about yours isn't working right?? I get serious dirty stuff all the time.

Don't tell but DH gets oil on his clothes all the time, unrefined gasoline, you name it, it gets it all right out. But, don't tell because you re not supposed to wash petrochemicals in pretty much any washer made......

Well hubby works in a CAT factory and who knows what got on his pants but the washer does get it clean. however it would not clean the "mistakes" from my dd's #2's....smelled like a sewer plant in there and I would have to wash it three times before I get it cleaned. So I started using santitation cycle and boy, did it get it clean!

We bought a Kenmore set this year. I LOVE it. I never know it is running as mine has vibration control, it may start to shake on heavy loads, but it quickly adjusts and I never know it is going. I have already noticed a difference in our electric bill as well. I use the standard HE detergent, whatever I have a coupon for and can find on sale.

I think something must be wrong with yours. Yes they can "smell " if you leave the washer damp.... I keep an old hand towel and wipe mine out when I am done using it. I also make sure I clean the seal regularly. This is recommended in my owners manual. As far as removing hair..... we have 5 dogs, 4 with white hair and one with black hair, they all shed A LOT , I have zero hair on my clothes, sheets , towels etc when I am done washing and drying my clothes.
